90's Playlist

A couple posts ago I said I wanted to put together a playlist of songs from the 90's. The 90's were a special time for me. The emcompassed my high school and college years. The fun thing about this music is that it makes me think of certain times back then. Don't you love that? How a song comes on and you are magically whisked away to that special memory of when you heard it.

Anyway, here is what we've come up with so far. You'll notice there is no N'Sync or Britney on here. Don't get me wrong; I love me some pop music. But they were too late in the 90's so I don't think they really count, and plus I want this list to be LEGIT.

And now I need your help. Which bands or songs am I missing? When you think of music in the 90's, what comes to mind? And is that on this list? If not, please let me know. I want to make this the best playlist EVER.

Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
Blind Melon "No Rain"
TLC "Waterfalls"
R.E.M. "Losing My Religion"
Fiona Apple "Criminal"
Pearl Jam (what song?)
Alanis Morissette "You Oughta Know"
Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge"
Metallica (what song?)
Beastie Boys (what song?)
Shawn Colvin "Sunny Came Home"
Soundgarden "Black Hole Sun"
Counting Crows "Mr. Jones"
The Cranberries "Linger"
Third Eye Blind "Semi-Charmed Life"
Oasis "Wonderwall"

oh here is a trip down a best-forgotten memory lane. Ugh! I believe your list is sufficient, and dare I say comprehensive. I did love TLC's "Waterfalls".

Did you include Hootie and the Blowfish, and also Blues Traveler "Run-around"?

Hootie! I can't believe I forgot them. Good call. I think "Only Wanna Be With You" would be a fab addition. And yes, Blues Traveler "Run Around" in on there. =)

Seal! Ahh! That song is SO 90's. Jody, you are queen of this. I am going to make you a copy of the playlist.

P.S. This whole process has got me thinking. In 10 years, what songs from the 00's will we make a playlist of? What artists/bands seem to encapsulate this decade? I guess we'll see.

awesome list sista. bringing me back to my UCD days. was this the era of whitney houston's big hit...'I will always love you' from the bodyguard movie. or what about some U2 please. the 90's was 'mysterious ways' from achtung baby. the 90's was also when garth brooks and country line dancing became a huge thing...or wait was that just in davis? :)

U2 "Mysterious Ways" was just recently added on the list. And I was going to put some Whitney Houston on there, but wasn't sure. I think if I hear that "I Will Always Love You" song one more time, I might explode. Same with "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith or "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. All 90's songs...but too overplayed.

Aim, I have actually almost doubled this 90's playlist. Everyone I ask keeps coming up with more and more good songs to add. I will have to send you the updated list. It's crazy! And I love it. =)

I don't see EnVogue on the list.
"Never Gonna Get It (woo-woo-woo-woo)"
